Lux.ly

In late 2020 I started working on this personal development project.

A react native app named ‘Luxly’. It’s a work in progress, not yet released to the public.

The idea is to create a platform where both individuals and A.I. can mix and remix existing content. Distribute it as a series of ‘Luxes’ (I’ll explain later). A place where users can enjoy content that’s been personalised to their individual taste profiles.

It all started with the observation that TikTok had gained notoriety by creating a never-ending chain of user-generated content, loaded in a simple, vertical UI. I thought there must be a way to make creating content more accessible, while also reducing a platform’s reliance on user-generated content.

This is a build running on an iPhone XR. The user is scrolling through a series of ‘Luxes’ generated by the API. It’s mixing in realtime the audio & video from seperate YouTube sources.

Luxes then are short clips mixed from separate sources. Optional start / end times, and an optional commercial link. The idea is that both individuals and A.I. would generate these, and a user’s feed would be ranked algorithmically by the content they enjoy the most.
